EcoBuzz 2010 Logo created by Narina Jabari On Friday, February 19th over 375 Peel students, teachers, representatives from environmental organization from across Ontario participated in PEYA's EcoBuzz Conference at Fletcher's Meadow Secondary School in Brampton.

The conference kicked off with a keynote address by youth leadership specialist, Matt Tod of the Institute for Health and Human Potential. Students and teachers will then attend diverse and interactive workshops in the areas of: student leadership, local food, drumming, nature appreciation through art, environmental justice, outdoor survival, environmental education policy, whole school approaches to Educating for Sustainable Development, waste reduction and urban agriculture. Students and teachers had an opportunity to share their action plans for the year and dream up new plans with the PEYA Executive members.

76% of student and teacher respondents to the EcoBuzz survey said they would take back what they learned at EcoBuzz to their own schools and transform knowledge into action!

Participants in the Tutored by Nature workshop called Sketch, Paint and Shoot submitted sketches, watercolour paintings and photos to be considered for prizes. Click here to see the winners.

The EcoBuzz evening and following day featured the inaugural Environmental Youth-Adult Partnerships Provincial Symposium. This gathering was an opportunity for organizations and individuals involved in youth-adult partnerships (YAPs) for environmental action to network and meet other youth and adults working on environmental programming, learn from other sectors on successful YAPs, improve skills, and strategize ways to enhance YAPs across Ontario.

Many thanks to all our fantastic volunteers, staff at Fletcher's Meadow S.S., participating organizations, and donors!
